A fantastic opportunity to take part in our trip across the Channel around. Although we will be offshore, we're in it for fun and we don't expect any offshore experience.

As we sail we'll split in to watches to run the boat overnight as we head for St Peter Port. Depending on conditions, the trip is likely to take until at least 10am to complete. We then spend at least a day and night in harbour allowing time for rest, shopping and sight seeing as well as sampling some excellent local Cuisine.

Depending on the weather, we'll depart Sunday morning for Alderney or Cherbourg to position for the return cruise, sailing by day and staying in either harbour overnight. From there we cross the Channel once again to return to Gosport on Monday.

We will use the engine if necessary to maintain our schedule. Overall, this is an excellent mile building opportunity and a chance to experience real offshore sailing as a taster for next year's Fastnet race maybe...?

~ OnWaterTraining.co.uk ~ is not an recognised RYA training centre however as a commercially endorsed RYA Yachtmaster Instructor (Sail) as well as a RYA Powerboat Instructor, Gordon remains available as an Instructor to deliver the RYA Sail Cruising Scheme or RYA Powerboat Scheme on a freelance basis only at recognised RYA centres.

RYA Training Courses - 2010 Programme

~ OnWaterTraining.co.uk ~ continues to enjoy a great partnership with Solent Sail.

As an approved RYA training centre Solent Sail offers the full range of RYA practical courses. Traditionally these courses take place over 5 days from Sunday evening until Friday afternoon, but they know it is difficult to justify using a week of your holiday for a sailing course so they have pioneered the weekend option whereby courses take place over 2.5 weekends including one Friday or Monday or even over three weekends.

Their instructors, of which Gordon is one, are chosen for their extensive sailing experience on a range of yachts, their second to none teaching ability and their inter-personal skills and they encourage your feedback to ensure that the high standards are maintained. All instructors are YMI qualified.

Only using high quality yachts, each is loaded with the sort of extra equipment that you want to use when you are chartering. The onboard equipment and supplies include good quality food throughout the course or weekend and plenty of it!
